As an agency administered by the Mississippi Department of Mental Health's, Bureau of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities, South Mississippi Regional Center (SMRC) provides residential and in-home and community services to citizens with intellectual and other developmental disabilities who reside in Hancock, Harrison, Jackson, George, Pearl River and Stone counties.  The mission and core values of the South Mississippi Regional Center emphasize the agency's inherent responsibility for the satisfaction of the individuals we serve.

SMRC directs its services through programs that work directly with the people they serve.  Their mission is to support Mississippians with intellectual and developmental disabilities, using a person-centered approach, by promoting active partnerships to enhance each person's quality of life and independence through choice of living, working and learning.

Training Materials/Handouts

Upon request, the school system cooperates with community organizations to assist them with communication to students and parents by allowing distribution of literature and other materials to students and parents informing them of local community activities that are in no way associated with the school system.  We encourage our students to be active members of our community and want them to be informed of all opportunities available to them.  However, the George County School System does not endorse any of these outside organizations, and this organization is in no way affiliated with eh George County school System.
